My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Argyle House nestled in the village of Toumintoul right on the main street (the only street, really).Diane made us feel right at home. The breakfast was tasty served with fresh, hot, homemade sodabread. Our room had the 2 twin beds and was on the smallish side.Next time, I would opt for one of the larger rooms. If you're in the area, this is a great place to stay.

We had a fantastic stay in the Argyle Guest House in Tomintoul. The room had a huge, comfortable bed. The guest house owner was very friendly and hospitable and the breakfast was the best I've ever had in a B&B - I had Eggs Florentine - cooked to perfection. It was also excellent value for money!

Stayed in a superior double room. Plenty of space, room was clean and fresh. Our younger dog finds it hard to settle in any new environment and settled immediately once we entered the room. What ever the Feng shui is in the guest house our dogs loved it. The additional doggy care kit in the bathroom was a really nice touch. Breakfast was amazing. We will certainly return.

Vielen Dank, Dianne!

Staying at the Argyle was such a pleasure! Tomintoul was a lovely little town and our stay was made special by the hospitality at the Argyle. The room was clean, comfortable, and it’s clear they pay close attention to detail. Greeted after a long day of cycling with a dram and restaurant recommendations, and then sent off with full bellies and a warm heart after the complimentary breakfast and good conversation. We’d recommend the Argyle to anyone!

We only stayed for one night but wished we had stayed for longer. We had a free upgrade for the room which really helped us due to our bags and thick jackets. Though we were supposedly heading into spring, it was still really cold outside, but it was really warm in the house, no thanks to Dianne's hospitality! Breakfast was so delicious with homemade bread by her husband! We also received a lot of tips about going to the Dark Sky site in our attempt to catch the aurora. The site is just round the corner from the house, making the trip into the total darkness and back really easy. The carpark is just opposite too so it is very convenient for all on a road trip. Once again, thank you for the wonderful stay!

Having followed Argyle Guest House on Facebook for some time, I was itching to go and see it for myself. Well, I am so glad I did. The unique charm of staying in a period property, where every room has been lovingly and individually created by the owners, is worth much more than the very competitive price they charged. The experience was enhanced by the warmest of welcomes from our fabulous hosts, Dianne and Steve. Nothing was a bother to them. The generous and perfectly cooked breakfasts really set us up for the day and the porridge truly was the best ever. Steve even showed us his spurtle (and you don't often get that for free!). It was the perfect getaway, relaxing in old world charm with all mod cons, great hosts, and plenty of canine companions. Definitely worth another visit.

Service including a hearty breakfast is impeccable. Dianne and Steve are wonderful people, treating us with respect, kindness and unexpected generosity. When our car broke down in the middle of nowhere, Steve offered to come to rescue us and even declined when we offered to pay him. They're very busy with running the B&B, yet always tried to help us, with a smile. Coming from a big city, we're really touched by the human connection. Thank you for everything and we wish you longevity and happiness!

Argyle House is a fantastic guest house. On arrival we were met by the lovely Dianne who told us she had upgraded us to a bigger room on the ground floor with direct access to outdoors so that we wouldn't have to come down the stairs if our dog needed to go outside. The Stag room is superb, with a massive, very comfortable bed and a couple of chairs at a low table. Dressing gowns supplied & ample supplies of refreshments including Whisky provided to enhance our stay. Although we didn't meet Steven he cooked our delicious breakfasts. Dianne's home made bread was absolutely amazing. We would highly recommend this B&B for either a short or longer break.

I was welcomed into the room by a wee dram of local whisky, which exactly what was needed ! I popped to the local pub for a delicious dinner with even more friendly locals ( Hi Karen ! ) I headed back & slept like a log in the very comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious & extremely filling, setting me up for another long day ahead.I used to be an area manager for a national company so I have stayed at numerous hotels etc.The Argyle is a definite must, very warm & friendly owners & all you need in a perfect nights resting stop.

We got our continental breakfast delivered to our door, and it was amazing, and of course had dog treats for their breakfast too! Our host was lovely and gave us some info on where to eat and where to walk the dogs, the village square was a two minute walk up the street. Lovely old building with well presented and spacious room. With welcoming and friendly owners who can do enough to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable.I would say it’s the best B&B I have stayed in.The village it’s self is welcoming and a pleasure to visit.I will definitely be back and can’t recommend it highly enough.

Although this is an older property and has been touched up in one or two places, it was spotlessly clean, fresh and welcoming. Our hostess was very welcoming without being over the top or intrusive. Our room was very comfortable and very well supplied.Breakfast was great. We couldn’t have asked for more and would gladly return.

Thanks for a friendly welcome and a lovely room for the night.Location is great, right in the middle of Tomintoul, very well appointed room, decoration all looks very modern and well kept.AMAZING power shower - maybe the most powerful hotel shower I've ever used!Continental tray service for breakfast due to covid restrictions was fine.Slightly noisy road outside, may be a problem if you're a light sleeper - but that's the same with everywhere on the main street.Definitely would recommend.

I enjoyed a lovely stay in this ideally located guest house. The room was perfect with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was spacious and I enjoyed a lovely power shower. The owners were very friendly and courteous and were highly professional throughout my stay. The continental breakfast was superb, one of the best I have ever experienced and it was brought to the room due to covid restrictions. A first class guest house.

This is a fabulous little guest house. The owners are really lovely, friendly people. The rooms are beautifully done and breakfast is superb - warmed croissants, fruit, yoghurt, meats and cheeses, just what you need in the morning.I was cycling and had a mechanical issue and the owners went out of their way to help and ended up being able to accommodate me for an extra night.

Arrived in the rain to a warm welcome.Comfortable room, lovely hot shower, comfy bed, and a chance to dry out.Enjoyed a good meal at the Clockhouse just over the road.Lovely breakfast and a generous invitation to take what we didn't eat away with us - much enjoyed later in the day. Thanks to Dianne and Steve for shelter from the storm.

We loved our stay. We’ve been travelling for a few days and really did appreciate the contrast from depersonalised hotels that herd you in and out like sheep to this lovely little spot where we were met with personal touches, friendly conversation, and a comfortable and quiet evening in our clean and well maintained room. The town is so small and even so, we were able to have an amazing dinner at the clockhouse just across the way and an evening stroll with sunset lighting and rural cairgorms views. We both expected this stop to be more out of convenience for the rest of our trip, but upon reflection we agree that this stay was a highlight. Wonderful place !

What a relaxing stay we had here. Diane the host is so open- mindedperson , so pleased to meet her and to chat with her. Unlikely to the chain hotels where everything is pretty the same - Argyle House is exceptional, the decor shows the attention to details and the great taste of the owner. The village is lovely and very peaceful and the food was of the top quality at Clock house restaurant nearby. Hope to be back soon.

I stayed in this lovely guesthouse for 4 nights as I was taking a kind of spiritual retreat up in the highlands. All I can say is that has been absolutely lovely to have stayed there. The room was much better that I was expecting, the bed was very comfy and the room was warm and cozy (with plenty of coffe and tea!). Toilet was also very clean, tidy and fully packed with everything you could need.I received a very warm, familiar welcoming when I got there and Dianne is just the loveliest woman I've met so far. She's been looking after me during my staying, she offered me advices around the area (the wood walk is fantastic!) and she's been keeping an eye in case I needed anything else. The breakfast was GREAT -continental breakfast, with plenty of different options, and she even gave me soya milk because my stomach is a bit sensitive with milk!!- and always at the perfect time.I will defenitely come back whenever I need another spiritual retreat! If you are looking for some quiet and peaceful place, this is the one! There are many walks to do around, the coffe shop is absolutely lovely and all the people who lives there are very friendly and nice.Thank you very, very much for everything!

Di and Stephen couldn’t be more accommodating- we arrived with a dog that had been ill on the journey up and Di immediately offered to wash towels, provide alternative blankets etc. Breakfast was perfect in spite of Covid restrictions as the property is in a great location for exploring all that the Cairngorms had to offer. Highly recommended!

It's always good to have a reason to stay at Argyle House. This time we had cycled across the hills from Ballater, so were freezing cold and soaking wet when we got there.Bikes were instantly locked in the secure storage and newspapers and old towels were waiting so that we could sort out our sodden and muddy clothing. The "Stag Room" was beautiful and really well supplied with hot drinks.More importantly, it was warm and we made good use of the fluffy dressing gowns provided. We knew that Covid restrictions meant that we couldn't have our usual amazing cooked breakfast, but Dianne and Steve didn't let that prevent them from providing a fantastic feast, delivered to the door.Selection of juice, eggs, cooked meats, cheese, rolls, pastries, yoghurt, croissants, fresh fruit (two kinds of melon, strawberries, grapes and blueberries!)fuelled us well for our next leg!Dianne and Steve are fantastic hosts and we can highly recommend a stay.

A fantastic couple of nights away in Tomintoul and blessed with brilliant weather also.Dianne could not do enough to help us, from great communication at point of booking and flexibility to accommodate us to providing a packed breakfast/lunch for an early start, including dog treats for our dogs.Clean, spacious, thoughtfully equipped - with a fresh coffee filter machine - we loved the Stag Room and would readily go back. An ideal location for walking the Lairig Ghru.

Everything on my Scotland road trip so far has been last minute - finding a place to stay in the Cairngorms was no exception. 99% of the places were already fully booked, so I opted for the highest-rated of the remaining ones. And believe me, when I say, I couldn´t have found a better place if I tried. Here are five reasons why the Argyle House was the best B&B I have ever stayed in:- A very warm welcome from the host Dianne, she went through all the safety measures (due to Covid), asked me about breakfast preferences (as I am vegan) and gave me recommendations as to where to eat out.- The room was super cute: they actually just re-did some interior and the individual touches and colours are just wonderful.- Everything is veeery spacious and clean: the room itself had a small coffee table + 2 chairs, a cupboard with TV and tea station, a sink, closet, and twin beds. The bathroom is also very big (usually shared among guests, due to Covid I had 1 for myself).- The breakfast came with a big variety of food. I can´t speak for the usual Continental Breakfast, but my vegan options included porridge with oat milk, fresh fruit platter, bread or bun, margarine, several jams, cookies and tea/coffee. I had more than enough for breakfast and bringing a snack with me while exploring.- The location is just great. Tomintoul is a cute little town with basically just one street. One day I took a lovely walk up the hill and the other day I drove to the Balmoral Castle and Braemar to hike the Morrone.I will definitely recommend it to my friends if they ever come to Scotland :)Thanks, Dianne and Steven for the lovely stay.

Arriving after a rainy day in Speyside we were greeted by the warm and friendly Diane who offered us a room with an ensuite bathroom and bath. It was music to our ears and we enjoyed a really nice comfortable stay at this guest house. The beds were comfy, the room was cosy, vkwan and very nicely decorated. We had a tasty continental breakfast in the morning. Despite the situation with covid, Diane made every effort to ensure we felt safe and secure in our stay, with a high level of cleanliness and biosecure measure. Would recommend to anyone, even anyone worried about their vulnerability to covid as this place was very covid-secure.

I was warmly welcomed by Dianne at check in and immediately felt relaxed. I was especially impressed with my continental breakfast next morning. So much to choose from with a good selection of cold meats, cheeses, petit pan, croissant and brioche, juices and fruit. AND a lovely boiled egg!The coffee was freshly brewed (no packet stuff!) The room was charming and very clean. The bed was really comfortable and cosy.I was also impressed at how the owners are dealing with guests during the pandemic. They are adhering to all the guidelines advised by the Scottish Government at the same time helping you to feel comfortable.I will most certainly stay here again on my next trip to The Highlands and would highly recommend Argyle House to others.

What a little gem of a find this charming and cosy guesthouse is. Booked last minute and after a 10 hour round trip, Argyle House provided the comfort and relaxation we desperately needed for one night before we headed onward to Glasgow. The owner, Diane, was beyond welcoming and helpful, even upgrading our room at no extra charge. After a long Xmas break of travelling, we headed to bed early and slept like logs, to be greeted with a lovely full Scottish breakfast with delightful homemade fresh soda bread the next morning. Would not hesitate to recommend and would stay again in a heartbeat. Only regret was our stay was one night only. Could have stayed much longer in this beautiful guesthouse and delightful village and countryside.

We had a very brief but enjoyable stay. Warmly welcomed we were shown to the family room which was outside at the side of the building. This was perfect as we were going to visit friends and although we weren’t late back it was nice to have our own front door. The room itself was very spacious and tastefully furnished. Tea and coffee making facilities and private bathroom as one would expect. Dianne provides us with cereal and a vacuum jug of milk as we had to leave before breakfast in the morning. Sad to have missed the proper breakfast as it sounds like one of the highlights of the stay.Would definitely stay again and have recommended to our friends if they have visitors.

Dianne was a wonderful host. Very knowledgeable about the area with for us on what to do. Took her suggestions and had a great day. Our room was very comfortable with everything we needed and more. Breakfast was the best part. Sooo good! The homemade bread was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our cooked breakfasts. If we ever go back to Scotland, we will return to Argyle Guest House and stay for more than one night.

Great location when touring the Speyside Distilleries, extremely clean, spacious rooms, comfortable mattresses, they have 6 rooms. The host of the house is ever so welcoming and helpful. They make a great homemade porridge for beakfast.Be sure to reach Toumatin before 8pm to be able to get something to eat in the area around. For all whisky lovers, they have the famous century old whishky castle right next doors so do keep an hour to browse this place and buy your favorite bottle. Will definitely be back.

It was a very pleasant stay. We have been received friendly and have got many tips for Tomintoul. Because of our early departure the breakfast was served to us earlier than usual ones. The room was big and clean. The house is nicely furnished.

We stayed at the Argyle Guest house for two nights (16/17th March 2019).Dianne was so helpful on the phone prior to our visit and welcomed us warmly when we arrived after a very snowy drive from Inverness airport! Our twin room had everything we needed for our stay.Breakfast was delicious! When we mentioned to anyone in the village that we were staying here they all mentioned the great breakfast!!Tomintoul is a lovely little village, a few nice shops, selling good quality items.Enough pubs/restaurants to enjoy an evening meal. The A939 was closed on our first morning, so driving to Balmoral/Braemar would prove difficult, but Dianne gave us excellent directions for the detour, which took 2 hours, but beautiful scenery! We will definitely return if we travel that way again.

With a friendly welcome you feel that you've come to the right place. A clean smart room with a comfy bed doesn't let down that welcome. With a good breakfast served in the same friendly manor. I would be happy to recommend Stephen and Diane at Ardyle House to anyone.p.s. I think "lonely Planet" may well be right about the oats
