Diane was a wonderful hostess. She received us with joy, and let us felt welcome. She explained about the local distillery, and gave a tip to try the tomintoul 16yo, which I’ve tried in the local pub (next door to argyle). In breakfast her husband cooked us a full Scottish breakfast and eggs royale, both wonderful, and offered us some yogurt, marmalade, and mix of berries. The bed is very comfortable and warm.

Having followed Argyle Guest House on Facebook for some time, I was itching to go and see it for myself. Well, I am so glad I did. The unique charm of staying in a period property, where every room has been lovingly and individually created by the owners, is worth much more than the very competitive price they charged. The experience was enhanced by the warmest of welcomes from our fabulous hosts, Dianne and Steve. Nothing was a bother to them. The generous and perfectly cooked breakfasts really set us up for the day and the porridge truly was the best ever. Steve even showed us his spurtle (and you don't often get that for free!). It was the perfect getaway, relaxing in old world charm with all mod cons, great hosts, and plenty of canine companions. Definitely worth another visit.

Diane was the perfect host from our first phone call until our departure. Our room was large, comfy and cosy. The breakfasts were well worth getting up in time for and Steve's home made bread was delicious.Vegetarian and vegan choices were on offer which was very welcome. We will be returning! Thank you Diane and Steve for a lovely stay.

I returned to Argyle Guesthouse for one night after having spent one week there ten years ago. It felt to me like returning to a home away from home. Loved the Scotty Dog Room - comfy bed & great shower! Dianne was again the perfect host. Breakfast (with bread fresh from the oven) was as great as I remembered it from my first stay. Will certainly come back when I‘m in this part of Scotland again. :-)

Best accommodation and breakfast we’ve ever experienced. We were so warmly welcomed by Diane to our beautiful room. Nothing was ever a bother including keeping our bikes secure. The room exceeded all expectations- warm, comfortable, large yet cosy. Location was prefect with a fantastic pub a few doors down. And then breakfast……highly recommend the Salmon and eggs. Lovely fruits, cereal and even homemade bread. Thank you so much for making us feel warm for so many reasons. Best wishes, Catherine and Laurie

My friend and I stayed one night in late autumn and found this place to be perfect. Warm, very cozy beds, everything we could need in the room and a warm welcome from our host. We were given a good recommendation for a pub down the road for dinner and had a good sleep. Breakfast was top notch. I stay in a lot of hotel.com places and when I saw the rating, I knew this would be good. It absolutely was and didn't disapoint. I'd highly recommend staying here.

I would highly recommend the Argyle House. Rooms were spotless and really warm and comfortable- every detail had been thought of. We arrived soaking wet and muddy after a rainy day cycling and Dianne and Steve couldn't have been more welcoming. They really went beyond to help us out when our travel plans had to change due to flooding. And they sent us on our way the next day with one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Excellent hosts in every way.
Awhh thank you

My daughter and I stayed here and wish we had the holiday time to stay longer! The room was absolutely beautiful, the beds blissfully comfortable, and the radiators lovely and warm in the cool Scottish air. Diane and Steve were super hosts and very accommodating - breakfast was adjusted to suit us (and the oats were delicious!!!), Diane gave us lots of handy local recommendations, and a minor maintenance need was addressed promptly the same day to make for a fantastic stay. Highly recommend! Also, the local pub on the corner has FANTASTIC food (the best steak and ale pie that we’ve eaten!). Thank you, Diane and Steve 😃

We had a lovely welcome on arrival and our experience just improved for the duration of our stay. The room was lovely, it’s clean and the bed is so comfy. There’s a lovely little touch of the local whisky in the room! The breakfast was delicious. It was great to meet Dianne,Steven and their dogs too!!!! What a great place. We were visiting with my parents and my mum being an ex B&B proprietor was completely bowled over by the whole experience, especially the Stag room which was their accommodation for the night!

We stayed in the Stag room which is spacious and clean with a comfortable King bed and even a mini fridge. Tea, coffee and even 12 year Tomintoul whiskey are offered in room. Service including a hearty breakfast is impeccable. Dianne and Steve are wonderful people, treating us with respect, kindness and unexpected generosity. When our car broke down in the middle of nowhere, Steve offered to come to rescue us and even declined when we offered to pay him. They're very busy with running the B&B, yet always tried to help us, with a smile. Coming from a big city, we're really touched by the human connection. Thank you for everything and we wish you longevity and happiness!

On arrival we were met by the lovely Dianne who told us she had upgraded us to a bigger room on the ground floor with direct access to outdoors so that we wouldn't have to come down the stairs if our dog needed to go outside. The Stag room is superb, with a massive, very comfortable bed and a couple of chairs at a low table. We particularly liked the reception given to our dog, with a bowl, treats and a rug. We all slept very well including Skye! We will certainly be back in the not too distant future.

Room was lovely, great to have a fridge..unexpected bonus, Diane and Steve are excellent host, very welcoming and friendly... Plenty of choice for breakfast, all food well cooked and presented. Tomintoul has a choice of traditional pubs/hotels serving good pub food. There are also some lovely walks nearby, with lots of wildlife to see, as you would expect in the Cairngorm. Will definitely stay again... for longer. Thanks to Diane and Steve, best wishes for the future..

Very friendly and efficient when dealing with a problem during the booking process, which was caused by a glitch in the new arrangements for online credit transactions. The breakfast was great - and even our request for a ridiculously early breakfast on a Sunday morning was met with a smile.Definitely recommend this place.

We stayed in the family room for two nights. You honestly couldn’t wish for better hosts. Diane is incredibly warm and welcoming. Stephen’s breakfasts cater for everyone. There are vegetarian and vegan options which being the former I felt there was a great range for me. The homemade bread was a lovely touch. The family room is very spacious and comfortable. The en-suite is huge! The sky park up the road was a wonderful addition to visit in the evening. We will definitely return again. Many thanks!

We only stayed the one night, but will definitely stay again. The welcome was very warm and our two dogs were treated like part of the family. The room was comfortable and clean, had everything we needed and there was even a towel and a welcome treat for the dogs. We got our continental breakfast delivered to our door, and it was amazing, and of course had dog treats for their breakfast too! Our host was lovely and gave us some info on where to eat and where to walk the dogs, the village square was a two minute walk up the street. It really is a lovely place to stay and we will visit again for sure.

We’ve been travelling for a few days and really did appreciate the contrast from depersonalised hotels that herd you in and out like sheep to this lovely little spot where we were met with personal touches, friendly conversation, and a comfortable and quiet evening in our clean and well maintained room. The town is so small and even so, we were able to have an amazing dinner at the clockhouse just across the way and an evening stroll with sunset lighting and rural cairgorms views. We both expected this stop to be more out of convenience for the rest of our trip, but upon reflection we agree that this stay was a highlight. Wonderful place !

I stayed in this lovely guesthouse for 4 nights as I was taking a kind of spiritual retreat up in the highlands. All I can say is that has been absolutely lovely to have stayed there. The room was much better that I was expecting, the bed was very comfy and the room was warm and cozy (with plenty of coffe and tea!). Toilet was also very clean, tidy and fully packed with everything you could need.I received a very warm, familiar welcoming when I got there and Dianne is just the loveliest woman I've met so far. She's been looking after me during my staying, she offered me advices around the area (the wood walk is fantastic!) and she's been keeping an eye in case I needed anything else. The breakfast was GREAT -continental breakfast, with plenty of different options, and she even gave me soya milk because my stomach is a bit sensitive with milk!!- and always at the perfect time.I will defenitely come back whenever I need another spiritual retreat! If you are looking for some quiet and peaceful place, this is the one! There are many walks to do around, the coffe shop is absolutely lovely and all the people who lives there are very friendly and nice.Thank you very, very much for everything!

Di and Stephen couldn’t be more accommodating- we arrived with a dog that had been ill on the journey up and Di immediately offered to wash towels, provide alternative blankets etc. Breakfast was perfect in spite of Covid restrictions as the property is in a great location for exploring all that the Cairngorms had to offer. Highly recommended!

It's always good to have a reason to stay at Argyle House. This time we had cycled across the hills from Ballater, so were freezing cold and soaking wet when we got there.Bikes were instantly locked in the secure storage and newspapers and old towels were waiting so that we could sort out our sodden and muddy clothing. The "Stag Room" was beautiful and really well supplied with hot drinks.More importantly, it was warm and we made good use of the fluffy dressing gowns provided. We knew that Covid restrictions meant that we couldn't have our usual amazing cooked breakfast, but Dianne and Steve didn't let that prevent them from providing a fantastic feast, delivered to the door.Selection of juice, eggs, cooked meats, cheese, rolls, pastries, yoghurt, croissants, fresh fruit (two kinds of melon, strawberries, grapes and blueberries!)fuelled us well for our next leg!Dianne and Steve are fantastic hosts and we can highly recommend a stay.

Everything on my Scotland road trip so far has been last minute - finding a place to stay in the Cairngorms was no exception. 99% of the places were already fully booked, so I opted for the highest-rated of the remaining ones. And believe me, when I say, I couldn´t have found a better place if I tried. Here are five reasons why the Argyle House was the best B&B I have ever stayed in:- A very warm welcome from the host Dianne, she went through all the safety measures (due to Covid), asked me about breakfast preferences (as I am vegan) and gave me recommendations as to where to eat out.- The room was super cute: they actually just re-did some interior and the individual touches and colours are just wonderful.- Everything is veeery spacious and clean: the room itself had a small coffee table + 2 chairs, a cupboard with TV and tea station, a sink, closet, and twin beds. The bathroom is also very big (usually shared among guests, due to Covid I had 1 for myself).- The breakfast came with a big variety of food. I can´t speak for the usual Continental Breakfast, but my vegan options included porridge with oat milk, fresh fruit platter, bread or bun, margarine, several jams, cookies and tea/coffee. I had more than enough for breakfast and bringing a snack with me while exploring.- The location is just great. Tomintoul is a cute little town with basically just one street. One day I took a lovely walk up the hill and the other day I drove to the Balmoral Castle and Braemar to hike the Morrone.I will definitely recommend it to my friends if they ever come to Scotland :)Thanks, Dianne and Steven for the lovely stay.

Arriving after a rainy day in Speyside we were greeted by the warm and friendly Diane who offered us a room with an ensuite bathroom and bath. It was music to our ears and we enjoyed a really nice comfortable stay at this guest house. The beds were comfy, the room was cosy, vkwan and very nicely decorated. We had a tasty continental breakfast in the morning. Despite the situation with covid, Diane made every effort to ensure we felt safe and secure in our stay, with a high level of cleanliness and biosecure measure. Would recommend to anyone, even anyone worried about their vulnerability to covid as this place was very covid-secure.

I was especially impressed with my continental breakfast next morning. So much to choose from with a good selection of cold meats, cheeses, petit pan, croissant and brioche, juices and fruit. AND a lovely boiled egg!The coffee was freshly brewed (no packet stuff!) The room was charming and very clean. The bed was really comfortable and cosy.I was also impressed at how the owners are dealing with guests during the pandemic. They are adhering to all the guidelines advised by the Scottish Government at the same time helping you to feel comfortable.I will most certainly stay here again on my next trip to The Highlands and would highly recommend Argyle House to others.

She really seemed to care about the welfare and comfort of her guests. The breakfasts were glorious (Steven's homemade soda bread was so delicious). We'll be back in summer for another stay. Thank you both so much.

We had a great time at argyle house, the breakfast far exceeded our expectations and Diane was lovely always happy to help with ideas of what to do and where ti go all throughout the local area. Would definitely recommend people stay here if they are after a peaceful time in the Cairngorms.

What a little gem of a find this charming and cosy guesthouse is. Booked last minute and after a 10 hour round trip, Argyle House provided the comfort and relaxation we desperately needed for one night before we headed onward to Glasgow. The owner, Diane, was beyond welcoming and helpful, even upgrading our room at no extra charge. After a long Xmas break of travelling, we headed to bed early and slept like logs, to be greeted with a lovely full Scottish breakfast with delightful homemade fresh soda bread the next morning. Would not hesitate to recommend and would stay again in a heartbeat. Only regret was our stay was one night only. Could have stayed much longer in this beautiful guesthouse and delightful village and countryside.

The room was cozy, beautiful, well equipped and sparkling clean, just like the rest of the house. In the shower, unlike in most british bathrooms, the water pressure was high enough and the eater hot enough!!!THe breakfast was simply: AMAZING. I have a difficult diet, but Dianne made a wonderful and very filling meal for me. And she was welcoming, kind and caring. All together: great great great experience!

A last minute decision to take the motorbike to the Cairngorms for the weekend led us to Argyle House where we arrived, frozen to the bone, to a very warm welcome. The bed was super comfy and like sleeping in a cosy nest. All exceptionally clean and well prepared. Breakfast was absolutely brilliant - cereals, yoghurt, fruit , freshly home-baked soda bread still warm from the oven, and a good choice of cooked to order plates. Thank you for warming us up and setting us up for the journey home with such a great breakfast.

We loved our room, our breakfasts, your advice and direction regarding the Cairngorms, eating places and your warm reception. We feel that we have a new friend and already want to return to visit. Very nice B&B.Pleased with the facilities and breakfast.Check in and out were easy.Small village with a few shops for snacks and a good size liquor store.Large, free lotparking across the streetThe hostess was very kind and helpful. The satellite TV channels were in and out that was the only disappointment given there’s not much to do at night given the rural location.

We had a very brief but enjoyable stay. Warmly welcomed we were shown to the family room which was outside at the side of the building. This was perfect as we were going to visit friends and although we weren’t late back it was nice to have our own front door. The room itself was very spacious and tastefully furnished. Tea and coffee making facilities and private bathroom as one would expect. Dianne provides us with cereal and a vacuum jug of milk as we had to leave before breakfast in the morning. Sad to have missed the proper breakfast as it sounds like one of the highlights of the stay.Would definitely stay again and have recommended to our friends if they have visitors.

They make a great homemade porridge for beakfast.Be sure to reach Toumatin before 8pm to be able to get something to eat in the area around. For all whisky lovers, they have the famous century old whishky castle right next doors so do keep an hour to browse this place and buy your favorite bottle. Will definitely be back.
